Father Calin

I was not always an Orthodox priest – in the Ceaucescu period I was with the Securitate, the Secret Military Police, for a year, seven months and 4 days. There I learned to fight. In the night it was our task to collect drunks on the streets. At that time I beat up a lot of people – today it makes me cry. In 1990, immediately after the fall of communism, I became a priest. In this way I keep up an old family tradition, because my grandfather and my great-grandfather were Orthodox priests as well. Since 1995 I have been pastor of Hosman. For the social project Elijah I can only thank God: There you can feel so much good will, both with the supporters, and with those who implement locally. This makes Elijah so special also in comparison to the state: Here is good will – and there only many words. I am connected with Elijah’s heart because I feel how one person loves the other here – I cannot let go of that. Father Georg Sporschill and I are also connected in a great Catholic-Orthodox friendship – for me a proof that there is only one God.
