Alice, 7, lives in a single room with her extended family. The father works as a shepherd, her mother takes care of the children and helps in the ELIJAH household school. This work gives the family a long-term livelihood. Of the eleven siblings, only two go to primary school, Alice was not accepted into school. There was no place for them in kindergarten either. We often bring Alice and her siblings to the social center. Now she lives with us in the community with the team of volunteers in the “Casa Petru”, where her brother Ovidiu and her sister Paula also live. For them this is the chance to have a different future, at least to be able to choose a future. She will go to school and is already learning basic skills at home.
