The young people I train as carpenters in the Elijah workshop come from very poor families. Most of them never went to school, so they did not find an apprenticeship or a job in Sibiu. All the more joy it gives me to teach them how to work with all kinds of wood in our carpenter’s workshop, so that they can later be good carpenters. One of the biggest challenges for them is reading plans, because many cannot read and write. There’s also a lot to learn about punctuality and reliability, but that’s what I’m here for. Since Elijah has started, there have been many positive developments here in Hosman: Many people, who previously had nothing, now have education, job training and employment. I enjoy working with young people and look forward to the next few years, in which we can all achieve some good with Elijah.
